TitleAbbazia di Sant'Elia, Fontecolombo
DescriptionHalfway between Fontecolombo and Greccio is the small village of St. Elias, whose distinctive feature is the Abbey named in Honor of the Prophet. Elijah is one of the most important figures of the Old Testament, where he appears in the Book of Kings; his name signifies "my lord is Yahweh". In Catholic tradition, the Prophet Elijah was particularly dedicated to the monastic orders dedicated to hermitage and the contemplative life, for whom he was considered to be a source of inspiration.A distinctive architectural feature of the church of Saint Elias, set in a context made even more picturesque by the stone murals, is one of the few known examples of a trapezoidal shaped bell.
